Saturday 12th September 2026 from 10am - 4pm
In this meditative workshop we will create cordage (string) from various natural and discarded man made materials.
Inspired by historic cordage making practices, where plant fibres were twisted into practical ropes and cords. The plants used varied depending on local availability and intended use. We will forage for plant materials in the local landscape, discuss when to harvest and how to prepare them for use. We will then practice cordage making with plants, as well as other freely available materials such as single use plastics and waste textiles Once we have created a variety of cord we will use coiled basket techniques to form a coaster or decorative piece to take home.
Delicious lunch included!
