Our Eco Credentials

The environment and our impact on it informs all of our decisions - both personal and business. We don't always get it right but we believe we have to at least try. With this in mind we chose materials for the build, the interiors and the everyday working of the Steading to be as thoughtful of it's impact as possible. For example we choose to clean the Steading only using cleaning materials that are biodegradable and never use bleach. It works well for the Steading, for us and for the planet.

We were very pleased when Burmieston and the Building Workshop architects won the 2018 RIAS Historic Environment Scotland award for Conservation and Climate Change (in architecture). Our choices meant that when we were paid members of Green Tourism, we were awarded a Gold Award to reflect the plethora of eco elements that run through Burmieston. We are no longer members of Green Tourism for business reasons but are still committed to nature and the environment being at the heart of our business,
