The environment and our impact on it informs all of our decisions - both personal and business. We don't always get it right but we believe we have to at least try and see where it gets us. With this in mind we chose materials for the build, the interiors and the everyday working of the Steading to be as thoughtful of it's whole impact as possible. For example we choose to offer bagless tea to our guests and clean the Steading only using vinegar and baking soda. It works well for the Steading, for us and for the planet.
Green Tourism is an international organisation started 20 years ago, in Perth of all places. We are very happy to be part of such an ambitious group of businesses (including The Savoy in London!) Wherever you are planning your next holiday, why not have a look at providers accredited with Green Tourism and make your holiday that bit more positive. Green Tourism have given us a Gold Award to reflect the plethora of eco elements that run through Burmieston.
We were very pleased when Burmieston and the Building Workshop architects won the 2018 RIAS Historic Environment Scotland award for Conservation and Climate Change (in architecture). Below are some more of the many choices we made and continue to work to improve upon. Please let us know if you have any suggestions.
