Just three miles from the picturesque town of Crieff, Drummond Castle has all the characteristics of a grand castle with 17th century Scottish Renaissance gardens. Built on a rocky outcrop in Perthshire by John, the 1st Lord Drummond around 1490, the castle still stands tall today for visitors to enjoy.
Between 1630 and 1636 both Drummond Castle and the surrounding gardens were beautifully rejuvenated by the 2nd Earl, and since then ongoing improvements have been made to both the garden and the castle. Today, Drummond Castle makes for a great day out for all the family. Visitors can enjoy the stunning gardens and views of the impressive building and surrounding countryside.

Drummond Castle Gardens
The gardens at Drummond Castle are some of the most important formal gardens in Scotland and are among the finest gardens in the whole of Europe. They were first designed in the early 17th century and then revamped and terraced in the 19th century.
As the gardens stand today, they have preserved the traditional features including the ancient yew hedges and the copper beech trees that were planted in 1842 by Queen Victoria. A mile-long driveway lined with stunning beech trees leads up to Drummond Castle, making a grand entrance for visitors.
The castle itself is formed of a 15th-century tower with five storeys and a garret. From this, a lower 17th-century extension and an 18th-century mansion have been added to the impressive building.
