Here is a selection of some frequently asked questions about Burmieston Farm & Steading.
All other questions can be sent to us to our e-mail: hello@burmieston.co.uk
Burmieston is a restored working farm and steading in rural Perthshire. We offer exclusive-use accommodation, creative workshops, wellbeing retreats and unique countryside experiences. It's a place to slow down, reconnect with nature and spend meaningful time together.
We're tucked away in the hills of Logiealmond, Perthshire, surrounded by farmland, wildlife and big skies. Although we feel wonderfully remote, we're still within easy reach of Perth, Dunkeld, Crieff and the Highlands.
Burmieston is ideal for:
The Steading sleeps up to 12 adults comfortably, with space for a 13th guest if they're happy to take the cosy top bunk in our Loft bedroom. There are five bedrooms, all with their own en-suite shower room.
Our accommodation is usually booked on an exclusive-use basis, giving your group the whole Steading to yourselves. Some of our retreats and workshops include the option to book individual rooms and we have occasional availability on a B&B basis for one room sleeping up to 4.
Absolutely. Children love exploring the farm, meeting the animals, jumping on the trampoline, playing in the Play Barn and having the freedom to roam safely outdoors. We also have books, games and plenty of open space for imaginative adventures.
Yes – well-behaved dogs are very welcome. We ask owners to keep them under control around the farm animals and there is a small additional charge. We have dogs of our own, so please let us know in advance if you're planning to bring yours.
No. We intentionally don't provide Wi-Fi in the Steading as many guests come here to enjoy a genuine digital detox. Most mobile networks provide a good 4G/5G signal if you need to stay connected.
No televisions here. Instead you'll find books, board games, beautiful views and plenty of opportunities to spend time together. If you fancy a film night, there's a projector, screen and a library of DVDs.
Our wood-fired sauna is one of our favourite places to unwind after a day exploring Perthshire. Whether you've been walking, crafting or simply relaxing, it's a wonderful way to slow down and enjoy the peace of Burmieston. The view is awesome and you can try our home-made hydrosols too!
Guests have exclusive use of the Steading, including:
Yes. Burmieston is a small (micro!) regenerative farm where we care for sheep, chickens and wildlife while working with nature to improve biodiversity and soil health. Farming is at the heart of everything we do.
Burmieston isn't just somewhere to stay. It's somewhere to reconnect.
Guests come here to celebrate, create, learn, rest and spend time together in beautiful surroundings. Our restored steading, regenerative farm, creative workshops and commitment to sustainability all combine to create an experience that's difficult to find elsewhere.
Yes. Throughout the year we host a variety of creative, craft and wellbeing retreats, as well as welcoming external tutors and organisations. You can also enquire about hosting your own retreat or event at Burmieston.
Yes. We can help arrange experiences including our Escape Barn challenge (an Escape Room but in a barn!), a sauna and cold bath, meeting the sheep, a guided foraging walk, creative workshops and seasonal activities. If you're celebrating a special occasion or organising a group stay, we'd be happy to discuss options.
Exclusive-use bookings have a three-night minimum stay. This allows guests to fully enjoy the experience while helping us reduce the environmental impact of frequent changeovers. B&B for individual rooms is a 2 night minimum.
Sustainability isn't an add-on for us—it's part of everyday life. From restoring historic buildings and farming regeneratively to making thoughtful choices about energy, materials and food, we're always looking for ways to tread more lightly on the land. We urge our guests to make an effort when they visit too by closing doors, switching off lights they aren’t using and using the recycling and compost bins.
We have our own lamb, skins, wool and rovings available to purchase, as well as homemade chutney and jam made with fruit from the orchard, and soaps made with our nettles. If there's something you're interested in, just ask when you book.
The easiest way is to contact us directly through our website. We'll confirm availability, answer any questions and help you plan a stay that suits your group.
